TRUE CONVICTION

Good day followers. There are three major passages of scripture that I will use today to talk about our needful topic. These passages are as follows:

II Corinthians 7:10  For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

John 16: 8-11  “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement: Of sin because they believe not on me; Of righteousness because I go to the Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”

Matthew 13: 24-30 The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay: lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

What has incited this topic on today is the concerns many have shared about the church.  Many have expressed that they don’t see any difference in the lifestyles of church folk than that of non-professing believers.

This is a legitimate concern that we here at Flip the Scripts wants to give more attention to by way of teaching.

Repent is a word that should bring us considerable joy. Repent implies that I have a chance to start over and do better. The word repent carries the meanings of: 1. to feel regretful or contrite for pass conduct. 2. to be penitent for one’s sins and seek to change one’s life for the better. 3. to remember with self-reproach or contrition. 4. to feel sorry for.

Followers: many people who enter the building called church are a unregenerated people.  They have not been born again by the word or the Spirit of God. True conviction has not wrapped itself around their hearts and minds. They have not been convinced that their lifestyles and acts of unrighteousness is sin before God.

What throws a many of us is this fact: We expect everyone who goes to church to be people who serve God in the fullness. We expect everyone naming the name of Christ to be upright in spirit, mind and body.  It would be a great blessing if our expectancy was true but dear friends it’s not and the Lord Himself knew this.

Let’s take a look at Matthew 7:17-27 “Even so” says Jesus, “every good tree bringeth forth good fruit: but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven: but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works
